Highlights

Best Time to Visit

The Galápagos can be visited year-round, with distinct seasons offering different wildlife experiences. December through May is the warm season (75-85°F) with occasional tropical showers, calmer seas, warmer water temperatures (70-75°F) ideal for snorkeling, sea turtle nesting, marine iguana nesting, and abundant seabirds. June through November is the cool season (65-75°F) with cooler, nutrient-rich waters (65-70°F) attracting abundant marine life, migrating whales, sea lions pupping, penguins most active, and generally better diving visibility-cooler water requires wetsuits. Wildlife viewing is excellent year-round, as animals don't migrate and are always visible. Different months feature different breeding behaviors: January-March for sea turtles, April-May for waved albatross arrival, June-September for whales, year-round for sea lions and marine iguanas. Book well in advance regardless of season, as permits and cruise spaces fill quickly.
